Should I signup for multiple ways to receive messages? A: Emergency Personnel encourages residents to enter all their contact information in the required fields to ensure that the emergency information is reaching the public in every possible way.
How will the CalcaShout System be used? A: CalcaShout Emergency Alert System is another communication tool to be used by the Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness, as well as municipalities in the Parish, for crisis communication. The system will only be activated in the most dire of circumstances, when there is a serious risk or active threat to Calcasieu Parish or a specific area within the Parish. When such a threat occurs, a very brief pre-recorded message will be sent to those who subscribe to the system. The system will send a single voice, email or text message to system subscribers, and the message will inform recipients of the emergency at hand.
How do I sign up for CalcaShout? A: The easiest way to sign up for this free service is to log on to: www.calcashout.com. A short form will be displayed on the page. Enter your personal email, phone/mobile numbers, and other contact information in the appropriate fields provided. Enter the complete phone number, including area code. Your information will be added to the database.
Will CalcaShout make long distance calls? A: The CalcaShout system does support long distance and out-of-state calls, but does not support international calls.
Can I use the system to have a CalcaShout alert message sent to my spouse or family member? A: Yes, if you choose to do so. The alert message gets sent to the contact number/address you supply. It can be any person’s number or address.
Will my contact information be used in any way to outside parties? A: No. The information provided for the CalcaShout Emergency Alert System will not be shared with anyone inside or outside the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury for any purpose other than emergency notification.
